long time no update :/
i am currently preparing the release of picogen's sourcecode (cleaned directory structure, prepared some build configurations, merging related projects into the picogen-tree, etc.; i may get acknowlegede from [link] every day now).
so, after upgrading my good _old_ box a bit (2GB DDR1 Ram + a new 16MB Cache harddisk) i wanted to see what i can do with the new memory. the scene above consists of around 8 million triangles.
compared to my heightmap renders with 64-128 million triangles, this seems to be nothing, but this time the triangles are fully qualified by 3 vertices each, each vertex consisting of 3 floats. crunched into a BIH, et voila, we are at 1,8 GB of RAM.
well, i think i will merge my old q/kd-tree into picogen, so that coming terrain renditions can be finished faster, and then, i'll give 0.2GTriangles a try
