Description
Yesterday I kludged the clouds into picogen. I use a model inspired by Hugo Elias' one on his homepage, that is a modified Perlin Noise function, projected onto a sphere (actually, I project a 3d-sphere onto the 2d-Perlin function: intersect huuuuge sphere, then take horizontal coordinates as parameters for the Perlin function).
It will be fun to optimize the look of the clouds. At the moment the color from the clouds comes a bit from self-illumination (clouds are luminaires), and a bit from diffuse ground reflections. Yet, the clouds are flat, but I want them to look more bumpy. I have taken some (bad quality) screenshots from the real sky herearound, whereilive as an inspiration. Let's see what I can do the next days

oh noes, why no interpolation for the clouds? that's an integral part of making perlin noise!
