greenhybrid is now phresnel :jedi:

Some time ago I decided to choose aa new display name, as I didn't like "greenhybrid" anymore. While I had a great time under that name, it leads to confusion about what it means or whether I am a car.

Here on deviantart was the last place where I used that nickname, but now I want to slowly transit over to the new account.

I won't re-upload all of the old media (if any), so maybe please keep your old watches :D

If you want to have a look at my new account and not miss what I upload in future, you can find me at phresnel (phresnel, like the physicist, but with a computer'ish "ph").

But then I have to organise things that go into the category "Life + Administrative", the boring bureaucratic stuff, tax things etc. .... the things I don't like in life, before new year :P

I also code a bit, e.g. a new "Heightslang" compiler that finally supports the definition of functions, so expect a mandelbrot heightmap, soon :) (+ I am renaming it to something like picomega or picofl or something...).

What is this code you speak about? RT? Fractal? RT-Fractals, maybe?

Do you think, you can use pictogen for parametric vector space calculations (if that's the correct name... dunno xD)?
(3 formulae get an input t and the three results are taken as [x,y,z]-coordinates...)
you can easily transform any formula in C into that, by using the Riemann sphere and using following formulae:

x=2Re(c)/(Abs(c)+1)
y=-2Im(c)/(Abs(c)+1)
z=(Abs(c)-1)/(Abs(c)+1)
(z-up)

and if you need back convesion:
c=(x+yi)/(1-z)

in polar coordinates, this is even simpler!
x=2cos(Arg(c))
y=-2sin(Arg(c))
z=(Abs(c)-1)/(Abs(c)+1)

I tried that on the general n-th root of complex values in polar form:

n_rt(c) = n_rt(abs(c))*e^(i*(arg(c)+k*2pi)/n) with k = 0 -> n-1

and wrote it in a general linear factor system (or how ever you'd call it^^)

n-1
Product(x-n_rt(x))
k=0

and then, I converted the real, imag and abs part of that into coordinates on the Riemann Sphere...

gives interesting results which might function as a generator for planet surfaces or similar, if you change the code a bit. (directly, it'd only be a sphere of radius 1 in the origin, with some lines on it)

I used the product for an of course unreal value of -1 and the results are pretty interesting :) but I can't see them on a sphere, yet: I can only look at a 2D-parametric mapping with my TI...

You ask clever questions :)

I am really not an expert regarding the set C, so I fully trust you there. The highest math I read was no math at all in the book "The poincare conjecture" by Donal O'Shea (a great book, topology is wonderfull).

Currently picogen can only do functions of the form (x,y) -> (h), though (x,y,z) -> (h) will be easy (actually I had such functions in the past, see the planets and moons in some picogen images, where I applied several functions (e.g. Perlin, or sinewaves) onto the sphere.

What I understand what you want is a function (t) -> (x,y,z), right?

If so, what exactly is "t"? It could be hard to build such meshes, as it is the exact opposite to what I do atm.

t is a parameter

f1(t)->x
f2(t)->y
f3(t)->z

and I somehow wrote the wrong formulae for the polar form of the riemann sphere...

componentform is

2*real(µ;)/(1+abs(µ;)) ->x
-2*imag(µ;)/(1+abs(µ;)) ->y
(abs(µ;)-1)/(abs(µ;)+1) ->z

polarform is

2*cos(phi)/(r+1) ->x
-2*sin(phi)/(r+1) ->y
(r-1)/(r+1) ->z

and backtransformation is
(x-yi)/(1-z)

komplex numbers really aren't hard xD just the things they lead to further.
Riemann sphere directly also isn't hard but indirectly for those things, it usually is used for ^^ (möbius-transformations and the general theory of relativity^^)
